Current Position: Marketing Communications Program Specialist, School Solutions

Public Sector Experience: In 1997, Melissa began working in the transportation office of the very elementary school district she had matriculated from in Gurnee, Illinois. During her three years with the district, she served as router, dispatcher, field trip scheduler and more. “The district I worked for was small so everyone wore many hats.”

What experience did you have with Tyler products as a user?
“I was the primary user of Tyler’s Versatrans Routing & Planning solution (then version 7) during my time with the Gurnee elementary school district.”

How did you make the transition to Tyler?
“I already had a good relationship with Tyler’s Versatrans Solution so making the move to the Capital District in upstate New York in 2000 to work for Versatrans was a natural transition for me.”

How does your public sector experience benefit Tyler’s clients?
“I have worked in the trenches — I understand the challenges our clients face on a daily basis. In my current position of marketing communications program specialist, my experience allows me to develop targeted campaigns and talk with clients, in their language. They don’t view me as the vendor, but as a colleague and friend.”
