Updating Microsoft ® Common Controls

  1. Download MSCOMCT2.OCX (version 6.0.88.4).

  2. Back up your current copy of MSCOMCT2.OCX and copy the new version to the same file location. Generally, this file should be located in the following directory based on your Operating System:
    • Windows 95, 98, or Me:
      c:\windows\system
    • Windows NT or 2000:
      c:\winnt\system32
    • Windows XP:
      c:\windows\system32

  3. Select START and then RUN from your taskbar. Type the following command to register this library file and then select the OK button:
    • Windows 95, 98, or Me:
      regsvr32 c:\windows\system\mscomct2.ocx
    • Windows NT or 2000:
      regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\mscomct2.ocx
    • Windows XP:
      regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mscomct2.ocx

  4. You should see a message saying "DllRegisterServer ... succeeded"
