Tyler Technologies is seeking a public affairs senior specialist to develop strategies and deliver materials to support security initiatives, crisis communication, and environment, social, and governance (ESG) activities. This role requires a passion for reputation management and a knowledge of public affairs to understand and respond to public policy changes, interact with proactive and reactive PR activities, and gather and present data for ESG reporting.

You will write, edit, collaborate on, and manage a variety of corporate materials, as well as serving as an internal consultant to multiple departments and functions. Materials may be technical in nature and require clarification for multiple audiences. Understanding of Tyler’s organization and the perspective of our client base and marketplace will be critical. This role is part of the Corporate Communications team, reporting to the media relations manager.

As a part of Tyler’s corporate staff, you will make an impact on outcomes that affect various areas of the company. Your work will ultimately support our team members, clients, stakeholders, and the public sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage relevant corporate responsibility content, including the annual CR report and copy for the proxy statement, responses to RFPs, and content for Tyler’s website, internal communications, and owned media.
  • Serve as a member of Tyler’s ESG council, attend related meetings, and facilitate collaboration among team members company-wide to advance corporate responsibility goals.
  • Assist in responding to surveys required for proposals, investor relations, and corporate governance, including ESG, diversity, environmental sustainability, and other material issues.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to drive corporate responsibility goals and strategy, identify and address challenges, and support initiatives in line with materiality assessment and focus areas as determined by the ESG Council.
  • Facilitate plans and deliver materials to support security initiatives and crisis communication strategies.
  • Partner with the media team to implement and maintain reactive media relations strategies.
  • Monitor the effect of public policy changes on Tyler’s client base and advise senior staff.
  • Act as Tyler’s subject matter expert for internal and external corporate responsibility initiatives and resources, fielding related inquiries, staying informed of trends and best practices, and surfacing topics that need attention or discussion.
  • Support Corporate Communications in ensuring a positive perception of Tyler with other stakeholders, such as media, analysts, and industry organizations.
  • Ensure appropriate tracking, measurement, and analysis of performance against goals, and adjust where necessary as tools and trends evolve.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Corporate Communications team, performing various communication tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable work experience
  • 10-12 years media or corporate communications experience in a business-to-business or business-to-government environment
  • Prior experience working with corporate responsibility and ESG reporting frameworks is preferred.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to generate impactful messages is required, demonstrated through writing samples and references.
  • Technology/software industry experience required; public sector experience preferred.
  • Experience effectively managing a variety of projects and timelines.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and deliver under pressure.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
  • Information gathering and interpreting skills.
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in a leadership or management role a plus.
  • An excellent understanding of technology applications, data management, image/media files, web media/interactive marketing, etc.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to go above and beyond expectations is key to the success of this role.
