Cloud Systems Administrator, Public Safety Solution

Tyler Technologies is looking for a passionate, talented Cloud Systems Administrator to join our public safety product development team. This is an exciting opportunity to design, build and deploy solutions for mission-critical applications in the Microsoft Azure Government cloud platform as well as shape the future of hybrid cloud and cloud solutions alongside top development talent in a collaborative, high-energy team. As a Cloud Systems Administrator on our team, you will work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment to implement solutions as well as remediate client-reported issues.

The New World Public Safety solution encompasses our police and fire computer-aided dispatch (CAD), mobile units, inspections, and field reporting as well as the supporting back office police, fire, and corrections records. This essential product line for police and fire departments across the United States is used to effectively dispatch units and make them more efficient in their daily job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the overall management and future vision of the public safety cloud infrastructure supporting new, hosted applications and increased customer load
  • Develop an infrastructure for automated provisioning of multi-tenant and private cloud environments that scale to meet demand and safeguard against theft, loss and/or unforeseen disasters
  • Interface with DevOps and application engineering teams within scrum-agile processes to design and implement highly distributed systems for scalable solutions leveraging modern architecture principles
  • Oversee the monitoring of infrastructure performance and direct initiatives to correct behavior that stresses or exceeds performance benchmarks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues (level 4) for mission-critical, hosted applications
  • Provide training and consultation to Tyler teams outside of development responsible for application deployment and on-premise configuration, device registration and troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure and performance issues (levels 1-3)
  • Communicate to business customers, technical teams and leadership in a consistent manner making complex issues and solutions clear, simple and understandable
  • Provide training and leadership to a Cloud Systems Engineer that will contribute to building out automation supporting provisioning and deployment of environments in addition to troubleshoot and resolving infrastructure and performance issues (level 4)

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in operating system administration 
  • 3+ years of experience in supporting enterprise-class platform installations
  • Azure Government/AWS cloud platform experience.  Certification a plus
  • Experience delivering infrastructure for enterprise-class distributed, scalable, secure, mission-critical software systems.  Comfort with frequent, incremental code-test-deploy
  • Understanding of network and Information Security best practices
  • Experience with APM tooling, web application load balancing and capacity planning for enterprise platforms
  • Focused on business outcomes in making near and long term directional decisions
  • Experience scripting (Python, PowerShell) and building required automation (Puppet, Chef) to automate build pipelines, continuous integration, configuration management and deployment
  • Ability to develop and maintain a test automation framework
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Experience in transforming process to best serve cloud deployment and hosting
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization and prioritization skills
  • Exposure to build systems (TFS 2017, Jenkins and Team City)
  • Exposure to VMWare virtualization
  • Exposure to the Atlassian stack
  • Experience in working with JSON data for provisioning in Azure Resource Manager
  • Candidates will need to show a track record of success interacting with internal/external customers, coding, testing, and deploying solutions with respect the infrastructure requirements 
  • Candidates must be deadline driven, team oriented, be a self-starter, have great people skills, a strong work ethic, and be enthusiastic, ambitious, as well as highly organized
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or related field
