Why Participate

The Maine App Challenge is a pre-packaged, extended learning opportunity that enables students to design and develop a unique software application. Students will have the chance to gain basic coding skills, create a brand persona, and pitch their ideas to the judges.

In recent years, educators have challenged and encouraged their students to participate in this opportunity by offering it as extra credit or as a graded project. Creating an app is a substantial and significant way for your students to build their resumes and college applications – not to mention a chance to win a scholarship!

There are three scholarships available for the top mobile apps: $6,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, and $1,000 for third place. The Maine App Challenge awards $500 to the Maine high school with the most teams submitting an eligible entry. Additional awards include a guaranteed Tyler Technologies internship interview for the top 10 finalists and other valuable prizes.
