As of January 1, 2021, all law enforcement agencies are required to have record-keeping software that is compliant with NIBRS, the FBI’s National Incident Based Reporting System. Why is NIBRS so important?

It matters because you can’t afford to be left behind when it comes to criminal data. NIBRS is a compilation of reports generated by local, state, tribal, and federal automated records systems. Federal agencies have already started the transition and state and local agencies will not be far behind.
