Development Project Manager – ERP Architecture and Operations

Overview

The Development Project Manager organizes, drives, and reports on cross-team initiatives within the ERP Architecture and Operations organization. This role ensures projects are executed efficiently, aligned with enterprise governance standards, and accurately reported to executive stakeholders. The individual will leverage standard tooling, such as Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, to plan, track, and communicate progress while partnering with Architecture, Operations, and Program Management teams.

The ideal candidate is proactive, technically literate, and adept at navigating complex cross-functional environments. They bring a balance of structured project management discipline and agile adaptability to ensure delivery success. The candidate should also demonstrate a strong interest in using artificial intelligence (AI) tools and automation to streamline project execution, enhance reporting accuracy, and proactively identify risks and opportunities.

Core Responsibilities

Project Management and Coordination

  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex software development and operations projects across multiple teams.
  • Work closely with senior leadership in project review meetings to align priorities and progress.
  • Contribute to and manage project charters, timelines, and delivery schedules.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, milestone tracking, and dependency maps.
  • Coordinate due dates, requirements, and dependencies across Architecture, Product, and Operations teams.

Governance and Standards

  • Align projects and initiatives with established divisional governance standards.
  • Partner with Governance group and Program Management to ensure reporting and documentation meet executive expectations.
  • Ensure project data integrity in tracking and reporting tools while adhering to portfolio management standards.

Risk and Issue Management

  • Monitor project progress against deadlines and escalate risks or blockers early.
  • Work with teams to assess technical challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively remove obstacles and assist teams in brainstorming alternative approaches to meet objectives.
  • Use AI-enabled analysis and reporting tools to identify potential bottlenecks, emerging risks, and optimization opportunities in project timelines or workflows.

Stakeholder and Team Engagement

  • Build strong relationships across Architecture, Operations, and Engineering teams to drive alignment and accountability.
  • Act as the primary contact for project-related questions, dependencies, and escalations.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency.
  • Understand team capabilities, resource availability, and skillsets to improve project execution.

Reporting and Presentation

  • Deliver structured project reporting, roadmaps, and dashboards that roll up to program-level summaries.
  • Develop and present business-oriented updates to varying levels of leadership.
  • Translate product roadmaps into actionable development and operational initiatives.
  • Leverage AI-driven visualization and summarization tools to standardize reporting, increase transparency, and improve executive communication.

Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend and implement improvements in project workflows and cross-team processes.
  • Apply Agile and PMI best practices to drive consistent and efficient execution.
  • Encourage “fail-fast” experimentation with structured course correction and learning.
  • Champion responsible adoption of AI for automating repetitive tasks, enhancing quality checks, and improving predictability across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing software development or technical operations projects.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, architecture practices, and Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Proven experience and proficiency using Atlassian Jira and Confluence for multi-team project management. Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing projects aligned with PMI principles; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Solid leadership and influencing skills, including mentoring without direct authority.
  • Strong communication skills, able to adapt content to technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into actionable steps.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Interest in and aptitude for using AI technologies to improve project efficiency, insight generation, and risk detection.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience working in ERP systems or enterprise-scale software environments.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to drive creative, balanced solutions to complex delivery challenges.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization or collaborating with distributed and remote teams.
  • Comfort experimenting with and guiding AI-driven enhancements in project management and operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and architectures
