Tyler Technologies is seeking a dynamic and motivated intern to join our Proactive Media team to support our corporate strategic communications team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about storytelling, adept at crafting compelling narratives, and eager to engage with various media channels. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in public relations, media relations, and content creation within the dynamic realm of civic technology. The role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in public relations, media relations, or communications. The Media Relations Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the development and execution of media strategies to enhance Tyler Technologies' visibility and reputation.

As a part of Tyler’s corporate staff, you will make an impact on outcomes that affect various areas of the company. Your work will ultimately support our team members, clients, stakeholders, and the public sector.

Responsibilities

  • Press Release Writing: Drafting press releases to announce company news, product updates, and community initiatives. Ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with Tyler Technologies' messaging.
  • Local Media Storytelling: Collaborating with team members to identify and source content for local media stories, showcasing Tyler Technologies' impact on communities across the country.
  • Social Media Support: Contributing to Tyler Technologies' social media channels by creating engaging content and monitoring online conversations.
  • Media Monitoring: Monitor news outlets, social media, and industry publications to stay informed about relevant news and trends in the government technology sector.
  • Media Outreach: Support the development of media lists and assist in reaching out to journalists and influencers. Coordinate logistics for interviews, briefings, and other media interactions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the proactive media team and internal vertical clients to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a relevant degree program: Pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Media Savvy: Demonstrated understanding of media relations, public relations, and social media platforms.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in written materials and media outreach.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with technology, software, or the government technology sector is a plus.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
  • Initiative: Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to take on responsibilities and projects independently.
