As a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) you will support the business by leading & defining our go-to-market strategies including market assessments and product launch plans, competitive positioning, pricing, packaging, and value propositions for the product(s) in the subvertical market(s) they serve. These strategies align product, sales, and marketing, and ensure new solutions meet defined objectives. The PMM will analyze and share insights of the market, buyer, competitor, and technology trends while coordinating software product launches and assisting with analysis and definition of go-to-market strategies and growth initiatives. 

The ideal candidate is a great collaborator, comfortable with managing relationships at all levels of an organization, action driven, and outcomes focused with proven track record of successfully bringing products to market. Travel will enable client interactions, market research through industry trade shows & events, and collaboration across Tyler Teams (up to 20% travel).

The Product Marketing Manager is the expert on how their products are best positioned in the marketplace and what additional opportunities exist for market expansion. They have a significant impact on driving new revenue into the business. They collaborate with sales, vertical (field) marketing, and product management/strategy to define and build consensus on go to market strategies. They drive product launches, and support sales by providing insights, training, and tools to help sales succeed. 
 
Business experience: 
  • A passion for product marketing and the desire to become an expert with technical products and solutions
  • A business ownership mentality and cognizant of impact of product marketing activities to the business unit’s P&L
  • Comfortable working closely with senior divisional business, sales and marketing, and product leadership, providing reports on initiatives and impact to business
  • 5+ years’ product marketing or similar experience in the software market, ideally for the public sector; cloud-based, SaaS experience preferred
  • Experience pricing, positioning, and launching SaaS products
  • Experience in the government industry is preferred
 
Skill requirements: 
  • Strong analytical skills: experience in strategic market analysis, competitive intelligence, and/or business model analysis is preferred
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Experience with PowerBI and MS Dynamics CRM is a plus
  • Outstanding oral and written presentation skills – able to simplify and communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner

Responsibilities

 
  • Lead go-to-market strategies and planning including assistance with market sizing, segmentation, addressable market analysis, buyer personas, competitive analysis, differentiators, and helping to advise on the direction of product, marketing, and sales team plans to bring new products to market. This also involves developing a business case including financial modeling, sales projections, and ROI.
  • Support the launch of new products including coordinating the launch plan and helping to define product positioning, compelling messages, packaging, pricing, and product naming while advising on and monitoring demand generation, operational readiness, sales enablement, and metrics.
  • Work with leadership to identify revenue growth opportunities, their scope, risks, and financial justifications.
  • Identify & track metrics to determine the effectiveness of product marketing activities
  • Support the sales enablement function by helping customer facing teams to understand new products and functionality to promote sales, adoption, and strong references
  • Direct competitive intelligence activities to develop SWOT analysis, sales tools, positioning, and product recommendations.
  • Work with software partners to establish business arrangements and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Conduct win/loss reviews including post-deal analysis and interviews with prospects and new customers, summarize findings, and provide recommendations
  • Collect, analyze and synthesize key market, buyer, product, and competitive insights and trends from multiple sources to develop insightful recommendations
  • Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of their divisions’ software, major trends, needs, and competitors
  • Travel to meet customers and attend industry events as needed (up to 20% travel).

Qualifications

 
  • A passion for product marketing and the desire to become an expert with technical products and solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, marketing, finance, or other related discipline. MBA preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Experience with PowerBI and MS Dynamics CRM is a plus
  • 5+ years’ product marketing or similar experience in the software market, ideally for the public sector; cloud-based, SaaS experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills: experience in strategic market analysis, competitive intelligence, and/or business model analysis is preferred.
