Conversion Engineer, Appraisal & Tax

As a Conversion Developer, you would develop and execute effective data conversions from one or more systems into Appraisal & Tax software applications. The main objective of this position is to provide high-quality converted data that functions well for our clients now and into the future. This is a data transformation role that requires understanding the business use of the data and the system it will be converted into. A successful candidate will gain product knowledge over time, but will immediately apply their knowledge of through the use of data manipulation techniques to develop efficient processes to transform client’s data from source system into the target databases.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute packages to convert client data using stored procedures, functions, and SQL scripts in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
  • Learn, use, and maintain an established set of internal tools and other technologies as necessary
  • Collaborate with project management and business analysts to develop data conversion packages that meet client business rules
  • Learn Appraisal & Tax software applications in order to understand the data being converted as part of the process to verify that conversion scripts are functioning properly
  • Perform basic data analysis to identify data patterns and anomalies
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of conversion logic
  • Perform data verification, and balancing of values and tax receivable data between old and new systems
  • Create and update conversion logic to resolve client issues in test and production environments
  • Engage in query performance tuning
  • Design, implement, and maintain new and existing database objects including table indexes, constraints, stored procedures, and user-defined functions in support of data conversion utilities and projects
  • Perform SQL Server administration activities (backup, restore, SQLCMD, and DBCC commands)
  • Stay current with Microsoft SQL Server technologies and current database concepts
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field or relevant work experience
  • Ability to work well within a deadline-oriented development structure
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong technical abilities and desire to learn new things
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skill, teamwork and customer service skills
  • Technical knowledge requirements:
    • Proficiently use SQL Server Management Studio 2014 and 2016
    • Write and maintain stored procedures and functions
    • Use aggregate functions in SQL
    • Create and maintain complex queries in SQL Server
    • Understand and use database schemas, tables, relationships, constraints, and indexes
    • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot conversion packages using SQL Server Data Tools in Visual Studio (SSDT in VS)
    • Ability to develop ETL process with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a plus
    • Ability to write reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus
    • Development experience with the .NET Framework is a plus
    • Application development experience is a plus
