Tyler Honored in 2021 W³ Awards

As the pandemic has pushed government organizations to accelerate plans and strategies to digitize government services, the need for clearer and more cohesive content has emerged as a central focus in the delivery of services to citizens.

Tyler state enterprises and partners have been recognized among the best digital content creators in the industry and were recently honored with 22 awards for excellence across mobile and web in the 16th Annual W³ Awards. Judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an organization dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media, the W³ Awards celebrate digital excellence by honoring outstanding websites, web marketing, video, mobile sites and apps, and social content created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide.

Recognized from more than 3,000 entries globally, Tyler state enterprises Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Vermont, and Wisconsin were honored with 21 silver awards and one gold award.

Gold Award Receipient

Vermont

Recognized among the top 10 percent of entries, Tyler took home a gold award in the best user experience for mobile category for its Vermont Outdoors app. Developed in partnership with the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, this official outdoor recreation app provides a wide variety of tools and information for hunting, trapping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The app also allows users to find points of interest on the interactive map, search for information on regulations and policy, submit reports to Vermont state agencies, and more. The app is available for download through the Apple App and Google Play stores.

Silver Award Recipients

Alabama

Tyler received a silver award for outstanding government website for the Alabama Professional Bail Bonding Board website. This secure site allows all publicly declared professional bondsmen and recovery agents to renew or apply for a license online. In addition to professional bail bond licensing applications and renewals, apbb.alabama.gov allows visitors to search for a license, submit a licensing complaint, read the Alabama Professional Bail Bonding Board law and admin code, and view Bail Bonding Board minutes.

Arkansas

In addition to earning a silver award for outstanding state government website for Arkansas.gov, Tyler was also honored with a silver award for best use of emerging technology in a government website for the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) chatbot. Handling more than 4,000 questions per month, the chatbot on humanservices.arkansas.gov helps visitors navigate the site and answer questions about DHS’s services and programs. Answering more than 11,000 questions per month, the Arkansas.gov chatbot invites visitors to the website to start a conversation, rather than perform a search or browse a list of government service.

Indiana

Tyler received four silver awards in the government website category, two for the State of Indiana website, one for Indiana INconnect, and one for the Indiana State Suicide Prevention Interactive Map.

Recognized for best visual appeal and experience, in.gov has had nearly 200 million visitors in the past 12 months and boasts self-help solutions such as FAQs and a chatbot.

Receiving a silver award in the health website category, Indiana INconnect helps users navigate the complex system of long-term care and services while offering resources and support. By simply answering a few questions, users can get connected to personalized information and resources for themselves or someone they care about. The website offers resources on housing, senior care planning, caregiver support, and more.

Also receiving recognition in the health website category, the Indiana State Suicide Prevention Interactive Map allows users to click on a county to identify local hospitals, suicide prevention resources, and community mental health centers nearby. Users can select a county from the map or the dropdown menu to be connected to hospitals, community mental health centers, and local resources.

Kentucky

Tyler received three silver awards for excellence in state government website for Kentucky’s Official Source for COVID-19 Information, the Kentucky Secretary of State website, and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife website.

Developed in partnership with the Office of Governor Andy Beshear in response to the pandemic, Kentucky’s Official Source for COVID-19 Information website proactively delivers the most up-to-date information from all state agencies in a single, online location. Among the citizen and business resources, kycovid19.ky.gov includes Kentucky coronavirus monitoring with interactive mapping, COVID-19 testing locations by county, vaccine locations, resources for employers and schools, and much more. Architected and cloud hosted with Tyler's GovStatus solution, the website features a responsive design that supports multimedia content and is built to withstand huge traffic spikes emergency websites often endure.

Developed in partnership with Kentucky Secretary of State Michael G. Adams, sos.ky.gov allows Kentuckians to register to vote, start a business, file annual reports, become a notary, and more.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife website provides hunters, fishers, and outdoor enthusiasts with education, resources, and information needed to experience Kentucky’s great outdoors. Visitors to fw.ky.gov can purchase hunting and fishing licenses, permits, and merchandise; submit applications for quota hunts on public lands and check drawing results; report harvests; create a profile to view stored information; and much more.

Mississippi

Taking home six silver awards, Tyler was recognized in the outstanding website category for ms.gov and its chatbot, MISSI, and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety website.

Mississippi’s official state website, ms.gov, received awards for best user experience, best visual appeal, and excellence in state government website. MISSI, the ms.gov chatbot, was also recognized for best use of emerging technology. MISSI streamlines the delivery of services to citizens and provides more thorough human assistance on tough-to-answer questions. Answering about 6,000 citizen service questions per month, MISSI has eased the workload on call center personnel and decreased call volume to agents by 50%.

Developed in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, dps.ms.gov features the “Skip the Line” program which offers a host of digital government services designed to reduce customer wait times or eliminate the need to visit a DPS office altogether. Services include online address changes for licenses and ID cards, online firearm permit renewal applications, live camera feeds at nine major driver license stations that provide real-time views of foot traffic, and Tyler's TeleGov online appointment system that allows DPS offices to better manage foot traffic and prevent over-crowding. Since launch in September 2020, more than 330,000 appointments have been made across 35 locations with 14 unique appointment types supported, and more than 94,000 addresses have been updated online. In addition, live camera feeds have been visited more than 37,000 times.

Developed in partnership with the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, mydmvlearnerspermit.vermont.gov allows aspiring drivers to apply online for a learner’s permit or motorcycle permit. The service guides the user through the process of entering and submitting their information, securely making payment and taking the knowledge test. In addition, the service provides status notifications to keep them updated as the DMV reviews and provides final approval before issuing the permit. Since its initial launch in May 2020, the service has received more than 20,000 online applications.

The Division of Liquor Control Education Storefront, dllseminars.vermont.gov, created with the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery, provides a centralized, online digital government service for citizens and businesses to purchase educational courses and associated products for compliance training. It also provides Vermont Division of Liquor and Lottery administrative personnel enhanced abilities to manage courses and product offerings in the online catalog, manage user accounts, and view detailed usage reports to gather valuable insights for delivering educational services and facilitating regulatory compliance for Vermont citizens and businesses.

Wisconsin

Wisconsin was also honored in the state government website category, earning silver awards for Wisconsin Go Wild and the Wisconsin MV1 Application websites, both of which were built by Tyler.

The Wisconsin MV1 Application website simplifies the vehicle title and registration process by providing an online tool that aides drivers in titling a vehicle, getting new license plates, or transferring license plates. Visitors to mv1.wi.gov answer a series of questions to generate the MV1 Wisconsin Title and License Plate Application with estimated fees, which can be saved and printed to submit to DMV with other required documentation, forms, and fees. With more than 9,600 users a month, the MV1 is the Wisconsin DMV’s most used form.

Processing more than 1.4 million transactions online this year alone, the Wisconsin Go Wild online license and registration portal offers hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts an easy-to-use online option to obtain fishing, hunting, and trapping licenses; register for safety education courses; and manage their boats, ATVs, and other off-road vehicles through an efficient online experience. Visitors to gowild.wi.gov can also create an account and log on to access their customer dashboard and catalog at any time.
