Tyler Technologies is looking for an Application Security Intern to join our Corporate Security team as part of our Summer 2026 Internship Program. This role focuses on execution, data collection, and process support under the guidance of senior team members. The intern assists with ongoing initiatives by helping maintain tooling, workflows, and operational consistency, while gaining hands-on exposure to application security practices, platforms, and methodologies used by the team. Through participation in active testing engagements and internal initiatives, the intern gains hands-on experience with application security methodologies, tools, and reporting processes within clearly defined scope boundaries. The role emphasizes learning through execution, observation, and repetition, building foundational technical skills, process awareness, and operational discipline.
The Application Security Intern role is designed as an entry point into the Application Security engineering career path, providing structured exposure to core AppSec operations while supporting the team’s day-to-day execution and project work. The intern is accountable for completing assigned operational tasks related to automated dynamic application security testing, steady-state security operations, and the maintenance of established workflows, tooling, and documentation. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the intern contributes to the reliability and scalability of AppSec services by executing well-defined tasks accurately and consistently, enabling the team to focus on higher-risk analysis and complex security decisions.

Responsibilities
- Assist with ongoing projects and Enterprise Application Security team initiatives
- Assist with administration or maintenance of security tools and utilities
- Assist with process improvement and recommendations for new or improved technology
- Participate in enterprise-wide security training and events as needed
- Prepare and/or modify system and process documentation
- Assist with product catalogue inventory maintenance efforts
- Executes assigned operational tasks that support the Application Security team’s daily functions, including automated dynamic application security testing and steady-state security operations.
- Supports the maintenance and execution of established AppSec workflows, tooling, and documentation under the direction of senior engineers.
- Assists with defined projects and initiatives by performing research, data gathering, validation, and administrative or technical support tasks.
- Participates in testing activities to gain exposure to application security methodologies, tools, and reporting processes while operating within clearly defined boundaries.
Qualifications
- Exposure to offensive application security, or software engineering
- Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services
- Basic knowledge of the HTTP protocol
- Ability to automate procedures using at least one scripting language (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell)
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a team of professionals on technical and business issues
- Basic understanding of offensive application security testing
- Experience or training in technical writing preferred
The Application Security Intern must be able to:
- Demonstrate strong writing skills
- Manage multiple task assignments with hard deadlines
- Work semi-independently or with other team members with management oversight
