Data Conversion Engineers at Tyler Technologies must be able to effectively understand, interpret and migrate data from a legacy system to our new leading-edge SaaS platform by collaborating closely with business stakeholders and the larger software development team.  They must be dedicated to high data integrity standards that align with our SaaS platform capabilities.  Data Conversion Engineers are innovative thinkers who are critical to the overall project success. They are experienced in writing SQL scripts, stored procedures, and using third party tools to ensure data is sustainable in the platform for years to come.

Potential team members with prior job titles ranging from Business Intelligence Developer, Data Migration Developer, and Product Migration Specialist, may find themselves challenged and rewarded in a Data Conversion Engineer position at Tyler Technologies

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a fast-paced team to conduct data analysis on each project to piece together data puzzles, ask discerning questions, and collaborate closely with colleagues and clients to get answers
  • Leverage industry leading best practices to ensure successful data migration
  • Develop data migration best practices and tools to continually evolve and improve capabilities
  • Take lead responsibility for the delivery of Data Migration Services: analysis, design, implementation, testing, validation, and acceptance by all parties.
  • Contribute to the development of Data Migration Services as required.
  • Ensure adequate end-user support for the Data Migration Services and transfer the necessary knowledge to the organization and customers.
  • Ability to work in a variety of relational databases and be passionate about data integrity
  • Design, document, integrate and migrate customer data and validate relational databases
  • Conduct QA activities to validate data migration accuracy and successful conversion
 

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience 
  • Familiar with software engineering concepts and current technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Relational Database design, implementation, administration.
  • Experience in MongoDB/NoSQL and in writing various types of SQL queries (T-SQL, Postgres, MySQL).
  • Ability to multitask and work on migration activities for different clients, from different sources, in parallel. 
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in migrating customer data with a strong knowledge of SQL scripting and data integrity best practices
  • Understand and use database schemas, tables, relationships, and constraints
  • Write and maintain stored procedures and functions using SQL
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies 
  • Value deadlines and regularly complete work on time
