Your mission as a Project Manager-Federal:

Would you like to work shoulder to shoulder with leaders in our Federal government to help them have a tremendous impact with their data? Our Project Managers build, maintain, and manage client-facing engagements with our Federal clients.

Our clients’ Chief Data Officers and CIOs will look to you to lead them from initial deployment of the Socrata data platform to targeted services engagements that unlock their ability to discover, access, and collaborate around their agency’s data.

Our Project Managers lead our implementation methodology, from scoping to launch ensuring clients achieve success during software implementation.  They manage the client scoping deliverables in the sales cycle and the implementation deliverables post sale with concise definitions of outcomes and a set timeline and resource plan to ensure deliverables are delivered on time and the client’s success criteria are realized.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing as a Project Manager:
  • Provide leadership and best practices to our clients for use of Socrata solutions in the public sector.
  • Validate a solution design, the business and technical requirements, to assess level of effort and develop an accurate statement of work
  • Solicit clear client goals and objectives using existing product functionality and execute a successful implementation plan with the client
  • Document and deliver with quality and excellence all required documentation/deliverables according to the Implementation Methodology for all client engagements, including statement of work, status reports, program design, test plan, and digital center of excellence.
  • Ensure client success by managing client expectations with regard to schedule, scope, quality, risks, budget and outcomes that ensure high client engagement.
  • Provide day-to-day project management, regular status reports, and manage all communications between project team and client.
  • Lead change management process for all activities defined outside of contract scope.
  • Facilitate communication within the development team, manage risks, issues, and approaches appropriately
  • Build proactive, positive relationships across the team.
  • Accountable for service delivery metric targets for client satisfaction and implementation success criteria

Qualifications:

  • Must possess at least 5 years of professional consulting experience in the software industry and/or client-facing technical program management experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust (Moderate) Clearance
  • Solution-oriented
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% to client sites within the DC metropolitan area (NOTE: we are all working remotely at this point, and in-person work will only be needed once that is safe for everyone)
  • Experience in the Federal government
  • Experience in and a passion for helping clients and their organizations improve their ability to use data to drive decisions and optimize their organization's productivity within the public sector including concepts in data-driven decision making, data visualization or related topics.
  • Proven ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Highly effective collaborator
  • Excellent organization skills and a track record of developing scopes and delivering projects on time and within budget
  • PMP or Agile certification is a plus.
