Senior Media Relations Specialist

Do you have a reporter’s instinct and experience in corporate reputation management? Tyler Technologies is seeking a senior media relations specialist to manage media inquiries, consult with internal teams, and execute our media relations strategy. You will write, edit, collaborate on, and manage external and internal talking points and background materials, as well as serving as our internal consultant to Tyler divisions. Because we are a software company, materials may be technical in nature and require clarification for different audiences. Understanding of local government and the public sector is a plus. Responsibilities

  • Manages inquiries from media and coordinates responses with solution teams and agencies.
  • Develops media relations and social media plans to support Tyler’s overall marketing strategy, including defining key audiences and key messages, expectations, competitive climate, and intended results;
  • Coordinates with vertical marketing leads to identify potential client success stories and/or trade editorial opportunities;
  • Manages development and tracking of editorial calendars related to pitching opportunities;
  • Facilitates media interviews with company leadership and other internal subject matter experts;
  • Looks for industry opportunities that increase company credibility including industry speaking opportunities, professional associations, conference attendance, panel discussions, etc.;
  • Identifies and works collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop case studies, testimonials, bylined/editorial opportunities, etc.
  • Writes and/or edits corporate press materials, including press releases, corporate backgrounders, talking points, executive bios, historical timelines, etc., to ensure consistency of message and tone;
  • Tracks, measures and analyzes media performance against goals and makes adjustments where necessary as media tools and trends evolve.
  • Works with Events team and vertical marketing to determine how media tools can be used to positively impact trade events, user conferences, product lines, etc.
  • Monitors media/press outlets for references to Tyler and/or its clients.
  • Participates on special projects as needed as part of the corporate communications team.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Functional knowledge of mainstream media tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field;
  • Media/public relations and/or agency experience required.
  • Minimum 8-10 years direct work experience.
  • Basic understanding of public sector market.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and knowledge of AP Style.
