2025 VSO Excellence Award Winner: Molly S. Weaver-Barry
March 02, 2026 by Katherine Shoals
In a state like Kansas, reaching veterans often means hitting the road. As a Mobile Office driver for the Kansas Office of Veterans Services (KOVS), Molly S. Weaver-Barry is often the first face a veteran sees and the vital link between them and their earned benefits.
Molly's profound commitment, not only to direct veteran support but also to empower her colleagues with tools and knowledge, earned her the 2025 All-Star Community Advocate Award.
Accuracy and Accessibility on the Road
Molly's strength lies in her ability to develop complete and accurate claims on the spot. By leveraging Tyler’s Veterans’ Benefits application in the field, she ensures that all documentation is correct the first time, maintaining an accuracy rate well over 95% for claims approved for submission to the VA. This proficiency minimizes back-and-forth, drastically speeding up the claims process for the veterans she serves.
Beyond her direct service, Molly is a force multiplier for her entire team. She created a practical “cheat sheet” for her colleagues, listing all the required forms for the different types of claims they encounter. This internal toolkit saves time and allows VSOs to answer complex questions over the phone efficiently, showcasing her commitment to elevating the service level across KOVS.
A Compassionate Commitment
Molly is always willing to go above and beyond, attending after-hours and weekend events and serving as a dedicated advocate for female veterans.
Her dedication is perhaps best captured by a moment shared with an older gentleman filing his first claim. He turned to Molly, tears in his eyes, and told her that she was “right where she needed to be,” expressing his deep gratitude for her help in making him understand the complex process. This story embodies Molly’s impact: using her knowledge and the power of the Tyler system to provide not just a service, but genuine care and clarity.
Congratulations to Molly S. Weaver-Barry and the Kansas Office of Veterans Services.
