Excellence 2025: Performance & Innovation Solutions

In today’s digital-first world, public sector technology leaders face a growing challenge: deliver secure, always-on digital services that meet the public’s high expectations — without expanding budgets or teams. The most successful government IT departments are meeting this challenge head-on through innovation. By leveraging modern, cloud-based tools and data-driven insights, they’re transforming service delivery, improving efficiency, and setting new standards for how residents interact with government online.

Celebrating Excellence in Performance & Innovation

Leading organizations nationwide are overcoming these challenges and more with the help of solutions from Tyler Technologies. Tyler created the Tyler Excellence Awards to celebrate these inspirational successes. Let’s once again acknowledge the 2025 recipients for Performance & Innovation, announced at the annual Tyler Connect conference.

Payments Solution Increases Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction

The city of Pasadena, California, sought a payments solution to reduce processing delays, improve cash flow visibility, and empower staff to deliver seamless customer service. To achieve this, Pasadena implemented Tyler’s Payments solution, which integrates with Tyler’s Cashiering and Enterprise ERP. With Payments, the city has:

  • Freed up staff time by automating auto-reconciling payments between Payments, Enterprise ERP, and Cashiering.
  • Automated and simplified the payment process to reduce manual errors and processing time.
  • Enhanced customer satisfaction by offering a user-friendly interface and multiple payment options, reducing foot traffic for in-person payments.
  • Provided customers one-stop convenience for paying a variety of bills through a consolidated platform that integrates seamlessly with Enterprise ERP.

Boosting Efficiency With AP Automation

To empower their staff and better serve residents, Pickens County, Georgia, wanted their internal systems to be as close-knit as the communities they serve. Their accounts payable process was inefficient, relying on outdated software and significant manual work. Information was siloed, hindering accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.

In response, the county chose ERP Pro and moved to a cloud-based system. With data and services in the cloud, downtime is greatly reduced, security is improved, and access is available anywhere with an internet connection. Since adopting ERP Pro’s AP Automation and Invoice Capture capabilities, the county has:

  • Used scheduled reports to facilitate collaboration between departments and address budget issues proactively.
  • Saved time on bank reconciliation and reduced manual data entry through automation.
  • Improved accountability and tracked payments in real time with cloud-based invoice approvals.

Streamlining Payroll and Workforce Management

Manual, paper-based processes in payroll and HR were creating significant inefficiencies at Dunlap Community Unit School District (CUSD), Illinois. Payroll processing regularly took up to two weeks to complete, requiring staff to work overtime, including late nights and weekends. Reports were printed and stored manually, and payroll balancing was done using spreadsheets.

The district transitioned an existing but underutilized School ERP Pro system to the cloud, bringing everything current and unlocking the value they had invested in years earlier. The cloud migration allowed staff to access the system remotely and ensured automatic updates, reducing reliance on limited internal IT support. In addition, the district has:

  • Reduced the time it takes to complete payroll from weeks to days with more efficient and accurate processes.
  • Invested in product training to ensure the district can benefit from the functionality available to them.
