Security Compliance Engineers must have comprehensive knowledge of NIST Special Publications, FedRAMP, CIS benchmarks, familiarity with PCI compliance, and DoD/DISA STIGS its application to Tyler's Information System. Information Security Compliance Engineers work in a fast paced, highly flexible team and client environment. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff both in writing and orally.

  • ​Represents Tyler in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
  • Interacts effectively with a diverse group of staff, clients, and other customers of our services, learns and uses operating practices of the department and Tyler.
  • Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Upholds the Guiding Principles outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Through the use of scanning tools and practical know-how, identifies security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications, and new technology initiatives.
  • Provides security support in the development, testing and operation of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus, and software deployment tools.
  • Conducts security architecture analysis to evaluate and mitigate issues.
  • Develops policies and procedures for securing the system infrastructure and applications.
  • Develops implements, enforces, and communicates security policies and/or plans for data, software applications, hardware, and telecommunications.
  • Identifies the installation, modification or replacement of hardware or software components and any configuration change(s) that affects security.
  • Provides technical oversight and enforcement of security directives, orders, standards, plans and procedures. Assists with the development of manuals and ensures system support personnel receive/maintain security awareness and training.
  • Assesses the impact on the business unit/customer caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and reports to senior management.

Abilities and other Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform and interpret vulnerability assessments
  • Ability to balance and prioritize concurrent initiatives
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships/partnerships with the information security and infrastructure support teams throughout the Information Technology organization, as well as business units and customers.
  • Strong work ethic. Good use of discretion and judgment.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve network/operating system security issues


  • Experience working with federal regulations related to information security (FISMA, Computer security Act, etc.)
  • Experience working with NIST Special Publications and A & A process methodology required. Experience with FedRAMP preferred.
  • Existing knowledge or work experience with networking protocols and understanding of security related technologies including encryption, IPsec, PKI, VPNs, firewalls, proxy services, DNS, and access-control-lists
  • Experience working with internet, web, application and network security techniques
  • Experience working with relevant operating system security (Windows, Linux, etc.)
  • Experience and/or knowledge with leading firewall, network scanning, intrusion detection, and authentication technologies
  • Possess security certifications (CISSP, CCNA, etc) preferred; not required.
  • Experience utilizing and performing security scanning activities.
  • Experience with compliance baselines; NIST Special Publications, FedRAMP, CIS benchmarks, PCI compliance, and DoD/DISA STIGS
  • Versatile skill set in order to support other teams within IT.


  • 2 or more years of experience in network, hosting, data and/or application security in multiple operating system environment
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education, work experience, and military experience
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government Clearance of Secret or higher.
