We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to lead our work with our open and internal data platforms, partnering with engineering on the technical architecture to enable us to continue to lead in this space. The mission is to ensure the platform can support ever increasing size and complexity from our government partners and continue to deliver the platform features to enable our clients to address the most pressing problems of our time.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a hands-on understanding of client data platform problems in a government at a deep- and granular-enough level to provide actionable inputs for product direction and use case selection, in your product area.
  • Understanding, shaping and communicating the product vision, priorities, and success metrics for our AWS-hosted data platform.
  • Leveraging a strategic partnership with AWS to incorporate new services into our infrastructure
  • Being a champion for agile product development and the continuous improvement of the product development process.
  • Overseeing requirements analysis and project decomposition activities that set engineers up to efficiently and sustainably deliver value to clients.
  • Establishing and monitoring relevant product and usage metrics and provide data-informed recommendations for new investments.
  • Create and validate service contracts, user scenarios, and technical requirements for multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Communicating information in the form of User Stories that support user needs, program functions, test cases and steps required to develop or modify systems.
  • Traveling to meet face to face with users and participate in research, design, and feedback session. Travel, at its peak, is expected to not exceed 25% of your time.

Qualifications

  • A passion for (or latent interest in) public service, civic technology, and building the future of government.
  • Product management experience for cloud-native data applications or platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and an iterative mindset.
  • Insatiable intellectual curiosity and willingness to quickly acquire expertise about unfamiliar subjects.
  • A "get to yes" mentality, focus on creative execution and enthusiasm for making hard choices, in close collaboration with your stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, thoughtfully manage multiple competing priorities, and ask for help when needed.

It would be great if you also have
  • Direct experience working for, developing products for or selling to government agencies.
  • 5-7 years of experience working in a fast-paced, data driven environment.
  • Functional knowledge of SQL and/or other common database query languages.
  • Experience managing tradeoffs and transitions between different relational databases; document store technologies.

Colorado Code of Regulations 7 CCR 1103-13 Disclosure

Salary will generally fall between $110,000 - $160,000 before adjustment for geographic differences. Recruiter can confirm if position is incentive eligible.
