The Vice President of Sales is the topmost sales position for the public safety division.  This position reports to the President of Public Safety. The Vice President has responsibility and authority for the strategic direction as well as day-to-day operations of the Sales team.  This position also serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) participating in strategic decisions across the division.


  • Successfully guides and influences the work efforts of the New Account Sales and Installed Sales teams for the Public Safety organization.
  • Responsible for sales-related functional groups, including the Proposal and Demonstration teams.
  • Effectively communicate with executive leadership team and staff, including staff in other disciplines, to ensure the sales strategy is planned, executed, and modified as needed to generate revenue.
  • Reports weekly updated forecast to Division President and Finance Director.
  • Partners with Marketing on all related Business Development activities, including prospecting, trade shows, and webinars.
  • Directs the overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expense priorities.
  • Supports negotiations with the legal team and provides decisions on business issues for sales contracts.
  • Ensures contracts are thoroughly negotiated and priced accurately.
  • Sets quota and compensation plans on an annual basis.
  • Plans and executes the Annual Sales Kickoff and August Sales meetings.
  • Maintains and expands the current market share for Tyler’s Public Safety products.
  • Mentors staff and enhances staff development.
  • Understands and responds to market trends to ensure maximum market penetration.


Remote | Troy, Michigan




  • A minimum of ten years of experience selling software products and services.
  • Sales leadership experience is a must.
  • Public Safety domain knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to work as a team player and effectively partner with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience delivering sales presentations.
  • Preference to work out of Troy MI office – but not mandatory.
  • Ability to travel 50% nationwide (prior to pandemic).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

State Specific Salary Range Disclosure Requirements for Colorado, Connecticut, and Nevada

Salary will generally fall between $150,000 - $225,000 before adjustment for geographic differences. Recruiter can confirm if position is incentive eligible.
