Business Development Representative (Temporary Position)

Tyler is seeking a Business Development Representative Temp to join our Market Strategy team. In this role, you will identify prospects and leads through telemarketing and use of Tyler's CRM system. This is a great position if you have solid phone and persuasion skills and want to break into the world of business-to-business sales, specifically in the financial software market.

As a part of Tyler’s corporate staff, you will make an impact on outcomes that affect various areas of the company. Your work will ultimately support our team members, clients, stakeholders, and the public sector.

  • Collaborate with sales team for focused prospecting to assist in uncovering potential opportunities and create a pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Make cold calls to prospects and provide calling support for marketing campaigns within territories and for defined product lines.
  • Maintain Microsoft Dynamics CRM with competitor information/contact/statistics
  • Develop understanding of the competitive landscape in the public sector market and perfect Tyler messaging around assigned software product lines pertaining to Municipal financial software solutions.
  • Work with leadership on reporting to provide visibility of calling and prospecting activities.
  • Assist with updates to sales Battle Cards, competitor profiles and other competitive intelligence requests.
  • Monitor and report on follow up of qualified leads by Sales reps
  • Develop effective prospecting skills
  • Develop knowledge of territory, key competitors, existing Tyler opportunities/ relationships, client satisfaction, and key messaging that will lead to meaningful interactions with potential prospects
  • Partner with sales operations and marketing in updating CRM records to achieve campaign, marketing, analytic and data governance goals


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or relevant Business or Information Technology field, or comparable work experience.
  • Professional phone demeanor; prior phone and/or customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Previous sales experience a plus
  • Prior exposure to technology/software sales is helpful.
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM a plus
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to travel occasionally to trade shows, if required. (less than 10%)
