The Pricing Specialist is responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing pricing strategies tailored to local government markets. This role ensures pricing aligns with compliance requirements, contract structures, and public‑sector buying behaviors. The specialist works closely with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Market Strategy teams to create competitive, compliant pricing while supporting profitability and long‑term growth.

Responsibilities

Public Sector Pricing Strategy & Analysis
  • Develop pricing strategies that align with government procurement rules, budget cycles, and competitive landscapes.
  • Build and maintain pricing models that incorporate cost structures, terms and conditions, and discounting frameworks.
  • Analyze market research, competitor pricing, and government contracts (e.g., GSA, cooperative purchasing vehicles).
  • Evaluate price performance across public-sector segments and recommend adjustments when appropriate.
Government Contracting & Compliance
  • Support pricing for responses to RFPs and state cooperative contracts.
  • Manage price lists and updates for government schedules and contracts (e.g., GSA MAS, state contracts, procurement portals).
  • Serve as primary contact for cooperative procurement contract pricing inquiries.
Price Execution & Governance
  • Ensure accurate pricing in ERP, CRM, and quoting tools, including government-specific catalog updates.
  • Ensure adherence to pricing approval processes and internal controls.
  • Monitor discounting behavior and ensure alignment with established pricing policies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with sales to provide pricing guidance tailored to agency goals, fiscal-year constraints, and procurement regulations.
  • Work with Product, Market Strategy, and Finance to analyze cost changes, price-to-win strategies, and the financial impact of public-sector terms and contract structures.
  • Support Sales Enablement with tools, and training.
Data, Reporting, & Market Insights
  • Develop dashboards tracking pricing performance, win/loss trends, competitive rates, and margin outcomes across government tiers.
  • Provide regular insights on procurement trends, spending patterns, agency budgets, and contract vehicle usage.
  • Conduct price-to-win and competitor benchmarking using public databases (e.g., SAM.gov, GSA eLibrary, state procurement portals).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Public Administration, or related field.
  • An MBA or Master’s in a related field is  desired, not required
  • 3-6  years of experience in pricing, financial analysis, contracting, or revenue management; experience in public-sector markets strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local government procurement processes.
