As a Senior Software Engineer at MicroPact, you’ll be part of an Agile engineering team working alongside other teams in the development of entellitrak- MicroPact’s open architecture, unified platform for Case Management and Business Process Management solutions.

The Senior Software Engineer will work within a fast paced and highly flexible Agile environment. Must be a self-starter, be able to operate independently, and multiplex his or her time between many diverse tasks.

Herndon, Virginia


  • Responsible for the design and development of new product capabilities and architectural enhancements in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.  Optimize code performance / maintainability.
  • Diagnose the cause of system issues as reported by stakeholders and produce fixes, minimizing side effects.
  • Develop unit / integration tests in a structured manner.
  • Ensure all product development is in compliance with the established development practices and processes.
  • Facilitate code reviews.  Ensure high quality production deliveries.
  • Help to drive the direction of product architecture, technology, and tools.
  • Operate in an advisory role by guiding Software Engineers to implement architectural improvements and system enhancements on an ongoing basis. Assist and guide them in achieving high quality production deliveries.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, high quality and innovative web solutions using Javascript libraries such as React JS.
  • Keep abreast of technology standards and industry best practices. Analyze industry technology trends, and propose execution plans for absorbing the relevant ones into product development.
  • Provide technical thought leadership to the teams through frequent informational sessions.
  • Assist in the creation of system documentation.


  • Minimum 5 years developing Java web applications.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing front-end web applications using Javascript and Javascript libraries such as React, Redux, Node/NPM, and ES6/7 (via Babel).
  • Proficient in developing web applications using Spring, and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate.
  • “Full stack” development is required, with strong experience building software solutions with exceptional user experience, using HTML and CSS.
  • Proficient in OOPS, Design Patterns and Data Structures.
  • Understanding of JEE Architecture and deployment procedures.
  • Experience with build/release tools such as GitLab, Maven, Gradle, Docker, and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.
  • Experience developing RESTful web services.
  • Experience with microservice based software architectures is a plus.
  • Experience using TDD for development and writing units tests, leveraging frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, JMock.
  • Strong experience in one or more relational databases, including Oracle, Sybase, SQLServer.
  • Strong experience in designing normalized or de-normalized database, writing complex SQL queries / stored procedures, and analyzing / fixing performance issues.
  • Experience working with one or more application servers such as Tomcat, JBOSS, Websphere.
  • Strong analytical skills (ability to digest requirements and produce design).
  • Experience with Scrum/XP software development methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Confluence, JIRA, and Crucible are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, at least 5 years of experience in developing software products.
